DESCRIPTION:The intention of the Cloudride Prologue is to provide an entry level for first time bikepacking riders to test gear\, navigation and themselves over two or three days and gain an experience of the terrain and fatigue levels that they will encounter on the full 1000k Monaro Cloudride.  A secondary option is for strong but time poor XC or road racers who want to dig a little deeper without having to commit to the expense of a full multi-day bikepacking rig. SUMMARY:Maricopa Trail Race 2024
DESCRIPTION:Originally dreamed up in 1997 by the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department\, the Maricopa Trail encircles the Phoenix metro area and connects nine of the ten regional parks. The Maricopa Trail consists of smooth desert single track\, rugged backcountry like trails\, and canal pathways. The core loop of the Maricopa trail is ~240 miles and is never far from endless resupply options. \nThe Maricopa Trail ‘Race’ is an unsanctioned event starting/finishing at the Anthem Trailhead (1120 W Desert Hills Dr\, Phoenix\, AZ 85086). There are no entry fees or prizes. Ride time will be recorded only as a comparison to others. It is up to participants to understand the route and be responsible for their navigation\, health\, and to abide by local regulations. SUMMARY:Indian Pacific Wheel Ride 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Indian Pacific Wheel Ride is an unofficial\, solo\, single-stage\, unsupported\, 5\,500km road cycling event ocean-to-ocean across Australia. The course is 100% sealed. Tradition dictates that the event starts at 6:22am in Fremantle\, Western Australia on the third Saturday of March\, and finishes at the Sydney Opera House whenever you get there. The clock does not stop. There is no prize money. Nothing is at stake except honour. \nThe official race was cancelled after the death of Mike Hall in 2017\, but the Australian ultra community continue to provide moral support and encouragement to all riders who choose to follow in his pedal strokes. The dot-watchers group on Facebook is where interested riders discuss\, plan and make arrangements to participate in this unofficial event.

Priority registration will be offered for Mexican nationals\, BIPOC\, and LGBTQ+. Scholarships available. Stay tuned! \nThe Ruta del Jefe festival and its rides occur entirely within Cuenca Los Ojos protected areas. Food and camping will be available on-site from Thursday to Sunday and included in the registration cost.  \nCuenca Los Ojos means the Watershed of the Springs and is a U.S. non-profit [501(c)3] that works with its Mexican counterpart\, Cuenca de Los Ojos A.C. (Civil Association)\, to manage the restoration and protection of 120\,000 acres (49\,000-ha) in the Sky Islands of Sonora\, Mexico.  \nLocated directly along the United States-Mexico border\, CLO stewards the unique desert wetlands\, open grasslands\, and soaring mountains of the Madrean Archipelago. They are restoring and rewilding these once-degraded ranch lands by repairing waterways and reviving the natural processes of herbivory\, predation\, pollination\, fire\, carbon sequestration\, and nutrient cycling. DESCRIPTION:This is the fifth year of the Fried Clay 200k. A self-supported endurance gravel event that takes you through 130ish miles of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. Expect a grueling trip down some of the best gravel roads middle Georgia has to offer. The route combines the popular Red Clay Ramble and Fried Green Tomatoes routes plus a lot of weird junk I added to make it even harder! You will need a GPS or a smart phone to navigate as there will be no markings on the route at all! Expect long stretches of gravel\, mild singletrack\, water crossings\, horse trails\, and mud. If you’ve been thinking about giving this whole endurance gravel/bikepacking thing a shot\, this is the perfect event. Some riders will choose to race\, while others will party pace it. This event can be the perfect opportunity to try a longer gravel race\, or a tough overnighter if you want to bikepack it. If you chose to camp on the route\, there will be marked primitive campsites on the route guide you will receive via e-mail before the event. Your registration gets you the GPX route\, an in-depth route guide\, and a dope patch. We will have a camp setup the night before if you choose to come down early! SUMMARY:Doom 2024
DESCRIPTION:Event photo by Kai Caddy \nDoom & Despair: Two route options of 408 miles (43k+ feet of vert) or 196 miles (21k+ feet of vert) launch out from Horseshoe Canyon Ranch deep in the backcountry of the Ozark National Forest. This is where you’ll find the biggest and baddest of everything when it comes to riding a bike in Arkansas! Away from all the cities and busy highways\, this is a journey meant for the purist. Limited cell service\, limited resupplies\, and limited pavement. Surface types range from hardpack gravel and abandoned Jeep/ATV roads to remote singletrack. All heavy metal\, no fluff. The elevation profile resembles that of a mangled saw blade with constant climbs and descents. The general recommendation is a hardtail mountain bike with 2.2″ tires but we still see a fun mix of unique gravel and mountain bike set-ups.  \nRiders are given gremlin bells before the event starts and are required to have them attached to their bikes for the duration of the journey. Participants are greeted with a nonstop finisher party once back at the Ranch!

DESCRIPTION:The Stagecoach 400 is California’s longest mountain bike route highlighting Southern California’s geographic and cultural diversity. DESCRIPTION:Self-supported bikepacking event on a 700km fixed route connected by 4 ferries. The route mainly goes on fast double tracks and secondary lanes. \nIt follows the classic rules and principles of self-supported cycling events\, but in the spirit of traditional Audax\, participants are here allowed to ride in a group and draft each other. This will encourage participants to plan stages and create a pelotón between ferry connections. \nThe Audax pace is the challenge to connect all the scheduled ferries in a non-stop ride\, it’s only achievable by ultra-cycling athletes\, and the entry fee will be fully refunded to every rider fast enough to make it.  \nThe event is more focused on the experience rather than the final results. There’s no time limit. There are no prizes\, no medals\, no brevet cards or finisher diplomas.

DESCRIPTION:Norfolk 360 is a hybrid cycling event where you’ll ride both road and off-road segments which will lead you to some of Norfolk’s most iconic sights. Cycling from coast to castles\, you will travel from Thetford Forest to the grand Holkham Hall\, taking in breathtaking scenery along the way. Designed in 4 loops that make up the 360-mile ride\, experience the flatlands of Norfolk in a self-supported ultra-cycle adventure that takes you to all 4-points of this beautiful county. \nThe 4 loops are designed to give you ownership of your race; you will have the option to do as much or as little as you want. There will be a central checkpoint that connects all four segments of the course. Don’t worry about carrying all the extra weight of camping equipment and spare clothes. You can leave a bag with all this at the central checkpoint and pick up what you need each time you come through. The central checkpoint is a safe environment inside a warm village hall where cyclists can sleep and store all their essentials. There will always be a race organiser on site to give guidance and support to the competitors. You will never be too far from safety and there are easier more direct routes back to the central point. The varying distances are designed to allow the normal club cyclist to take on the adventure of an ultra-cycle without the need to commit to years of preparation or buying new expensive gear.

DESCRIPTION:‘Taster Trip’ is our 3 day trip where you will learn all the mechanical skills\, camping tricks and packing tips for a successful and fun bikepacking adventure. Lead by an experienced guide\, you will learn everything you need to start having your own bikepacking adventures. \nDay 1- Start with some introductions and then look at our bikes and the range of bikepacking bags available and how to pack them for a trip. In the afternoon we will have lunch then go out for a ride on our loaded bikes. Getting to know the feel of them with the added weight and making adjustments as we go. Approximately 40km of mostly unpaved trail. \nDay 2- We dive right into basic bike mechanics. With a bunch of spares and a practise bike to get fully involved. Ask as many questions as you like\, this is about building confidence and skills. Then we jump on the bikes and head to the trailhead for our overnight bikepacking trip. Trails will vary depending on weather but will all be easy riding (grade 2 single track\, quiet gravel road or 4×4 track) We will stop often for snacks and chats and more snacks. This day is roughly around 30-40km of riding total. We set up camp and have dinner and maybe a swim for the brave. \nDay 3- We have breakfast and ride back to the trailhead\, again plenty of stopping for snacks and chats along the way. We can practise any skills along the way as well. This day is roughly around 30-40km of riding total. We finish the day at the local pub/ cafe for a celebration for completing the trip and an open forum for questions.

Someone draws up a course that connects all the goods in an area. You know as much singletrack and killer riding as you can find. And then you ride it all in one go\, carrying what you need to camp along the way. \nAn Ultraknuckle? Well\, that’s our take on this concept. \nThe ride: \nCaltopo\nStrava\nI hope it is obvious that this is self-supported. You will need to carry what you need to stay on the road for the time it takes to finish the loop. There are plenty of places for resupply along the way\, but also stretches where there is pretty much nothing. Do your research and be prepared.  \nHere’s to doing unnecessary shit! \n2024 Dates\nThe Grand Depart (roll out from the Lounge) will be May 2 at 5:30 PM. You will have 72 hours to complete the route. \nWe will be breaking this up into two categories for 2024. Your traditional ITT and the best category\, Enduro. The enduro category requires riders to camp at the designated spots on the map. Their time will not include camp time\, but only the time it takes to ride between the camps. \nOr just show up and ride your bike. That’s probably the best plan.

DESCRIPTION:The Headwaters Trail is a new circular route that connects bridleways and quiet lanes along moors and valleys shaped by three rivers. \nThe trail takes you over Pennine hills and along limestone ridges\, through two World Heritage Sites and several historic market towns\, onto a thriving city centre and across the broad floodplain on traffic-free greenways\, descents on woodlands trails and long climbs over moorland plateaus of millstone grit. \nWe’ve called it the Headwaters Trail as the 350km circular route takes you to the ‘head of the waters’ – the source – of the River Calder\, the River Aire and the River Don high up on the Pennine moors or what locals call ‘the tops’.   \nThe route takes you on every type of trail imaginable.  From smooth gravel on reclaimed railway cuttings to weather beaten slabs of millstone grit on drovers lanes and twisty moorland singletrack. \nInto villages\, towns and through the centre of Leeds\, past our industrial heritage of mills and workshops and back out on the hills and moors. \nThere is an Event HQ where riders sign on\, receive and activate their GPS trackers and sort out any last minute questions and logistical issues. \nParticipants will receive a 24 page printed ‘Guide to the Trail’ with OS maps and a field tested gpx file. We have worked hard on the tracks to offer the right balance of dirt roads\, paths\, asphalt and some single tracks\, but always thinking of riding it with a gravel bike\, avoiding as much as possible the parts with too high a technical difficulty; of course it is also possible to participate by mountain bike.
