The Beyond+ has been in Bombtrack’s lineup since 2017 and is positioned as their “rough stuff adventure rig,” specifically designed for dirt touring and rigid mountain biking. There are two models in the lineup, the 100% steel 27.5+ Beyond+, and the steel/carbon 29+ Beyond+ ADV. This year, Bombtrack revamped the flagship model with a new top tube design for a lower standover height and gave both models a new paint job and build kit. Here are all the details, including notes on the geometry and launch videos for both bikes.

2021 Bombtrack Beyond+

The 27.5+ 2021 Bombtrack Beyond+ features a double-butted, suspension corrected 4120 chromoly frame with a few changes, a slightly tweaked build kit, and a new paint job. Borrowing from last year’s Beyond+ ADV, the frame features a redesigned top tube with reduced standover height compared to the previous model.

2021 Bombtrack Beyond+ Build Kit

The Beyond+’s build kit remains pretty consistent with the 2020 model and features a SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain with an 11–50t cassette and a 30t direct mount chainring. There are a few minor changes, like a Truvative crank and BOMBTRACK GRAD sealed hubs. Here’s the full build kit.

2021 Bombtrack Beyond+ ADV

The Beyond+ ADV is essentially the higher-end bigger brother of the Beyond+. It features a similar (nearly identical) frame, but gets the full carbon BPC fork and terrain-smashing 29+ tires. However, as Cass summarizes in his first ride report of last year’s Beyond+ ADV, “Don’t pigeon hole [the Beyond+ ADV] as a big-wheeled, dirt road tourer, even if its provision for bikepacking gear makes it ideal for multi-day adventures – note that it has 10mm less bottom bracket drop and a slacker head angle than a Surly ECR, for instance. I only had a few hours on the bike but it was clear to see that the Beyond+ ADV makes a really capable, low maintenance mountain bike that’s especially handy on techy descents—a dropper post would certainly be a worthwhile upgrade.” Aside from a color change and a few build kit tweaks, the 2021 model remains consistent. The geometry on these two bikes is nearly identical, save a shorter fork length on the Beyond+ (right), as well as a slightly lower standover (the result of the smaller 27.5+ tire diameter).
