Nine Bikes From the 2022 ENVE Builder Round-Up

ENVE’s fourth annual Builder Round-Up, Open House, and Grodeo ride took place Friday and Saturday at ENVE HQ in Ogden, Utah, with 20 frame builders joining in to display their custom rigs. The showcase included custom road, gravel, and mountain bikes, and even a dirt jumper.

We’re always impressed with quality of coverage that ENVE puts together for their annual open house and Builder Round-Up. As usual, they sent over an amazing collection of photographs by the talented Ian Matteson (@analogstrikesback). We picked nine of our favorites from the show to feature in this roundup. Weis Hammer Gravel Ti (Titanium) link

New York, New York

NYC-based Weis makes a Hammer Gravel frameset that features signature eye-catching asymmetric seatstays. But that’s just one of the interesting features of this Hammer Gravel Ti. The titanium integrated seatmast is pretty mind-boggling, as is the unique head tube design. Overall, it’s one of the most interesting bikes we saw from this year’s group.

Speedvagen Custom (Steel) link

Portland, Oregon

Speedvagen showcased a lovely singlespeed flat-bar gravel bike that was hard to pass by. With a steel frame and fork—which is pretty uncommon to see in these roundups—Speedvagen’s custom show bike is based on a pool party theme and features a one-piece bar and stem. It looks perfect for a bar ride or a jaunt on your local trails. It has ENVE G23 wheels paired with Rene Herse rubber.

CHUMBA Yaupon (Steel) link

Austin, Texas

As seen in our Dispatch last week, Chumba brought its all-new Yaupon. With a 120mm suspension fork, M630 wheels, and an Alloy MTN Stem, the Yaupon pairs some mountain bike sensibilities with a gravel vibe. It looks ready for a big ride like the Tour Divide.

Horse Gravel Monster (Steel) link

Bovina, New York

Horse never ceases to impress with their beautiful gravel bikes. The Gravel Monster is their take on a drop-bar bike made to accommodate big tires and handle more demanding terrain. And it’s a thing of beauty, too. The show bike was set up in a 650B wheel mode with G27 wheels with Rene Herse tires.

Ritte Le Loup (Titanium) link

Los Angeles, California

This was no doubt the showstopper of the group, in part for its wild Trust suspension fork. Ritte used the Builder Round-Up to debut their first foray into mountain bikes. This titanium hardtail is trail-ready, built with M630 wheels, an M7 Bar, and Cane Creek eeWings Ti cranks.

Mosaic GT-1 X (Titanium) link

Boulder, Colorado

The ever-enticing Mosaic GT-1 X is always a head-turner. The Boulder, Colorado-bassed brand outfitted this particular monster gravel bike with a sweet-looking bird bell, ENVE 700c AG25 wheels, and 2.2″ Donnelly mountain bike tires. Plus, they opted for a flat bar for a full crossover effect.

Saltair Stainless SSCX (KVA Stainless Steel) link

Salt Lake City, Utah

Utah-based Saltair created a bike that mixes old and new to make a stainless steel singlespeed cyclocross rig. The SSCX features a lugged bottom bracket seat tube joint, beautifully-detailed dropouts, and a build kitted with AG25 wheels paired with IRC Boken rubber.

Scarab Paramo Ultra (Steel) link

Medellin, Colombia

We absolutely couldn’t resist including Colombian builder Scarab’s latest creation. The finish work on the Paramo Ultra gravel bike is based on the Rio Magdalena, one of Colombia’s largest rivers, which inspired the painting and artwork on the frame. Complete with the villages, tributaries, and landscapes in the Colombian Andes, the detail is nothing short of stunning. The full build included ENVE’s AG25 wheels and G Series Handlebars.

Retrotec Road (Steel)link

Napa, California

We had to sneak in at least one road bike to round out the list, and it comes from none other than Retrotec. Curtis Inglis’ Retrotec Road has his trademark curves that blend a vintage look with modern touches. This bike is a prime example of how great graphic design can be an integral ingredient in a good-looking bike.
