We love DIY projects that make bikepacking more accessible to a broader range of riders with varying budgets, and we always look forward to bike restoration videos from Gary’s Projects on YouTube. So, naturally, we were excited to see a new DIY video pop up from Gary yesterday that offers the best of both worlds.
In his latest video tutorial, he walks through the steps for making your own rando-style front rack with a drill and some simple materials that are available from any hardware store. The rack he makes in the video ended up costing him a little under $25 AUD in materials, which is just ~$16.50 USD! A word of warning that building it appears to be a fairly involved process, but the end result looks solid.
