As a professional road cyclist, it was only two years ago that Marie-Soleil Blais first learned about bikepacking and the Tour Divide. At that point, she’d never touched a mountain bike or camped, but the idea of racing along the spine of the US and Canada drew her in, and she set her sights on competing in the 2023 edition of the Tour Divide.
In Marie-Soleil’s words, “The Tour Divide triggered my curiosity. A 4,300-kilometre time trial? What a ridiculous distance! What if I remove everything I know about what I’m capable of doing and set my mind to riding as fast as I can from Banff to the Mexican border? How far will I be able to push my body?”
Full heart, full gas, Changes is an 80-minute video that tells the story of Marie-Soleil’s first attempt at the Tour Divide as a roadie-turned-bikepacker. Will she make it all the way to the finish in New Mexico? Watch the video above to find out.
