The Bikepacking Journal Issue 03
We’re pleased to present the latest issue of our biannually printed publication, The Bikepacking Journal. This new collection is loaded with fresh bikepacking stories and essays from all over the globe, and this issue is our biggest one yet. Find out what’s inside here, along with details on how to join our Bikepacking Collective so you never miss another issue again…
In our third issue, we wanted to continue pushing beyond simply sharing inspiring stories and photography. As much as we love reading about life-altering trips to dream destinations, our goal was to broaden the scope of themes and diversity of voices we published in print. And we hoped to engage our audience in a way that provided opportunities for learning and reflecting.
How does understanding a place’s past enrich the experience of travel and travelers themselves? What’s the real value of a long-term bike trip, and is it possible to extract that same value from something much shorter? How does the way we interact with places as bikepackers differ from the way other communities experience those same spaces? We examined these questions and more in issue three of The Bikepacking Journal.
In November 2019, we shipped copies of The Bikepacking Journal to our Bikepacking Collective members all across the globe. Spanning 160 color pages, it was our biggest issue to date. We also included a hand-illustrated map of the Tour Divide route and a members-only patch as a thank you to our supporters, without whom we wouldn’t be able to share information and inspiration in print and here on the web.
