Dead Ends & Cake is a self-supported and self-navigated bikepacking event in eastern Switzerland—with fresh cake at each checkpoint. In this fourth edition of the event we will revisit some of last years checkpoints and show you some new gems up in the mountains. The lucky participants are drawn in a lottery – 50/50 gender split as always.

People try to avoid dead end roads. And that’s why they are so special! Small rugged roads, roughly carved into the mountains will lead you to the very end of a valley or to the top of an alp. The only reason to go there are stunning sceneries and amazing landscapes! That’s why there’s almost no traffic. Just you and the mountains.

All five checkpoints are located at the very end of a dead end road. This will bring you to some of the most beautiful, remote places of eastern Switzerland, where you will be rewarded with a piece of cake! Start and finish in St. Gallen.

Find your own way! All checkpoints are mandatory – but you choose the order and your best route. Try to create a fast, a versatile or the most spectacular route – it’s up to you (Roadbike, Gravelbike or MTB?). As in real life – our dead ends aren’t the end of the world. If you don’t mind some offroad or hike-a-bike action – there will be a way at the end of the road…
