The new US-made No. 22 Drifter Adventure is the most capable drop-bar bike in the New York brand’s lineup, and it comes kitted out with a fully butted titanium tubeset, UDH-compatible titanium dropouts, the option for a coupler system, and clearance for 700 x 50mm tires. Find photos and specs here…
New York-based No. 22 Bicycles isn’t a brand we post about regularly around here. That’s mostly because the largest tire you could fit onto their Drifter gravel bike was 45mm until recently, which leaves something to be desired for many bikepacking routes. Plus, being top-end US-made titanium bikes, No. 22’s prices put them squarely in the dream bike category for many buyers. Still, we were pleased to see that the capable new Driver Adventure join their ranks, which allows for 700 x 50mm tire clearance, the option to run 1x drivetrains, and a healthy number of mounts and bosses for cargo and bolt-on bags.
The Drifter Adventure is handmade in the US with a seemingly never-ending list of high-end features. It has 3D-printed titanium UDH-compatible rear dropouts, a matching No. 6 Adventure full carbon fork with triple pack mounts, a threaded T47 bottom bracket, a machined brake bridge with a hidden fender mount, and a full array of bespoke Prototipo hardware. The frame has fender mounts, top tube mounts, mounts for bolt-on frame bags and bottles, as well as under the downtube and on the fork legs.
The frame sports flat mount disc brakes, 12mm thru-axles front and back, 34.9mm front derailleur clamp, 27.2mm seatpost, internal cable routing, and the fork has dynamo routing. No. 22 also offers upgrades for an additional cost, including custom geometry, a fully internal cockpit and 3D-printed titanium stem, a complete coupler system (pictured below), and more than 35 different finish options, including Cerakote, anodized, or raw.
The No. 22 Drifter Adventure comes in seven sizes from 48cm to 60cm. The frameset (frame, fork, headset, seatpost clamp) costs $6,299 USD, and the Shimano GRX 12-Speed build comes in at a cool $11,575. Complete builds could quickly get into the $15,000 range, depending on your build and upgrades. Every No. 22 is built to order and build kits can also be customized.
