About the Event
Tour de Vision… Miles for Lives
When was the last time you saw a visually impaired person trying to board a bus? Or cross the road? Think back. Chances are, it was the 80s. Since then, India has gone on a high growth trajectory and no one noticed that some people are missing from the roads.
We picked an outdoor activity like cycling, to remind everyone that public spaces have become even more inaccessible than they were in the 80s. This is our endeavour to raise awareness about the importance of making public spaces accessible to everyone – including the visually challenged.
Tour De Vision is cycling event, where various cyclists (professional and amateur) will be invited to participate in a 25/50 km ride that we call Miles For Lives..We lack sight not vision.
Cyclists contribute by their participation in the event.
Individuals and Organisations support the event by sponsoring one or more cyclists, or by sponsoring the event itself.
The event will fund the educational needs of over 1000 visually challenged children through Esha’s CLABIL (Central Library of Audio Books in Indian Languages) Project. The Project aims at increasing the outreach of the CLABIL audio files to 10,000 visually challenged children.
Visually challenged students will be identified, access to audio files via MP3 players will be given, followed by an observation of the impact of the learning intervention and effective individual coaching and mentoring will be given to the kids to pursue a career of their choice.
